Birkenstock Quits AmazonAn article on CNBC, by Ari Levy, titled "Birkenstock quits Amazon in US after counterfeit surge" was published on Wednesday, July 20, 2016. The article explains that as of January, 1, 2017, Birkenstock will no longer be supplying any of its products to Amazon. This is in response to the increase of counterfeit Birkenstock merchandise being sold on the Amazon marketplace. Please read the article! I wrote a blog in May 2016 about "Spotting Fake Birkenstocks." Please make certain you only purchase Birkenstocks through an authorized vendor to ensure your shoes are authentic. Buy Authentic Birkenstocks Only from Authorized Retailers – Not Amazon Red, white, and blue Birkenstocks for the win! But here’s the truth: not every pair sold online is authentic. Counterfeit sandals are everywhere on Amazon, and they can’t compare to the comfort and quality of real Birkenstocks. Protect your feet and your investment by only purchasing through official authorized Birkenstock dealers. ✨ Expert advice on my blog and on my Instagram feed. Stop by and say hello! Counterfeit Birkenstocks: What You Need to Know & Where to Buy Authentic Before you click “buy,” remember: Amazon is not an authorized Birkenstock dealer. Counterfeits are everywhere there. Protect yourself by reviewing my guides. If you’re on the hunt for secondhand gems or tracking down hard-to-find styles, begin with my article Spotting Fake Birkenstocks—a checklist that covers everything from boxes, logos, and labels to soles, footbeds, and hardware. For even more detail, check out the photo updates in Part 2 and the follow-up tips in Part 3. Curious how fakes show up in the real world? In Bogus Birks, I break down a Poshmark “deal” gone wrong, where 11 different red flags appeared: chemical smell, crushed box, mismatched labels, shiny flimsy buckles, and even an oversized outsole stamped with “Birk.” Not every surprise means counterfeit—for instance, Birkenstock did update their Original Footbed logo from yellow to black (while Soft Footbed logos remain blue). If you’re brand new to Birks, I recommend reading Birkenstocks: Stepping Into Your First Pair to nail down the right size and width—and here’s the most important part: stick with authorized retailers like Birkenstock, Zappos, and Nordstrom. REMEMBER: Do not buy Birkenstocks on Amazon, since they are not an authorized dealer and counterfeit pairs have been widely reported. And if bargain knockoffs catch your eye, remember that the genuine cork-latex footbed, EVA outsole, and long-term repairability are what make authentic Birkenstocks worth every penny. I explain why in Knock Off Birkenstocks. Bottom line: buy from trusted sellers, check that packaging and footbed details line up, and if anything feels questionable—send them back. About the Author:Hi, I’m Gina Mama—the unapologetic Birkenstock addict behind I Love Birkenstocks. 👣 My teenage crush in the 90s wasn’t on a boy band—it was on a pair of Birks. I wore them for a decade straight (sorry, other shoes). After rekindling the flame in 2015, I’ve been diving deep into everything Birkenstock: the history, the styles, the care tips, and yes…the occasional rant about narrow soles. For me, Birks aren’t just sandals—they’re a lifestyle. Comfort, authenticity, self-expression… and maybe a little cork dust in my veins. Blog List
