Welcome to I Love Birkenstocks | Gina Mama’s Birkenstock Blog & Style Journal

5/14/2016

I’m Gina Mama, the voice behind I Love Birkenstocks — a blog devoted to the comfort, craftsmanship, and style of the world’s most iconic sandals.  What began as a teenage obsession in the 1990s with my very first pair of Arizonas has grown into a lifelong passion for all things Birkenstock. After rediscovering the brand in 2015, I created this space to share honest reviews, styling ideas, sandal-care tips, and advice on spotting fakes.  Over the years, my love for Birkenstocks has only deepened — not just for their quality and design, but for the lifestyle they represent: comfort, authenticity, and timeless self-expression.

Frequently Asked Questions About Birkenstocks

1. How can you tell if Birkenstocks are fake?

Authentic Birkenstocks feature a registered trademark logo, “Made in Germany” stamp, engraved buckles, and high-quality materials. Fakes often skip these details or misspell the brand name.

2. What’s the difference between narrow and regular width Birkenstocks

Birkenstock’s “narrow” footbed fits slim feet, while “regular” width offers more space at the toes and ball of the foot. Unfortunately, some limited editions only come in narrow widths.

3. Which Birkenstock footbed is most comfortable — original, soft, or shearling-lined?
The original footbed offers firm arch support, soft adds a thin foam layer for a cushier feel, and shearling-lined provides warmth and plush comfort for cooler months.

4. How do you break in Birkenstocks without getting blisters?

Start slow — wear them for short periods daily, allowing the cork and leather to mold to your feet. Avoid soaking or heating them to “speed up” the process.
